Synthetic Politics: Prevalence, Spreaders, and Emotional Reception of AI-Generated Political Images on X
Using GPT-4o to detect AI-generated images in 2.5 million tweets about the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election on X, this study finds that about 12% of shared images are AI-generated; a small group of predominantly right-leaning, X Premium, bot-like superspreaders drives most AIGC dissemination; and their AI-image tweets receive more positive and less toxic responses.Powered by Seed HypermediaOpen App
