Often times I see that we want to write a document and mention people that we want to read it. Most of the time people are creating a separate comment with the mentions. Please, let's mention in the document itself.
Few reasons:
When processing notifications in the app you currently have to do an extra click to see the doc, because the notification brings you to a meaningless comment.
I'm always confused whether to reply to this meaningless comment or start a new thread with feedback about the document.
Sometimes the content of the document feels confusing unless you understand that it's a call for opinion to other people.
If we mention in the content we could index and expose an aggregate attributes of all the mentions in the document, for which we could then query, which may be useful. Granted, we could do the same with comments probably, it's still may be worth distinguishing first-party mentions in content vs. mentions in comments.
So, just mention people somewhere in the doc itself, at the beginning or at the end or elsewhere.
Also, it seems like we might want to have a @here mention or something like that to notify all the members of the site without enumerating each one.
