[DONE] Existing navigation items are missing when editing a custom Navigation Barhttps://github.com/seed-hypermedia/seed/issues/568
Button

Description:

The Navigation Bar automatically includes home subdocuments by default. After a user edits the Navigation Bar, it switches to a manually managed state and no longer automatically adds new home subdocuments as navigation items.

However, when opening the Navigation Options menu, the current navigation items are not displayed. The menu only shows “Add Navigation Item.”

This makes it unclear whether the Navigation Bar is in automatic or custom mode, and prevents users from managing the existing navigation items.

Repro steps:

  1. Open https://cibercultura.hyper.media.

  2. Click the edit button for the navigation bar.

  3. Open the Navigation Options menu.

Expected behavior:

The Navigation Options menu should display the current navigation items, whether they were automatically created from home subdocuments or manually added by the user.

If editing the Navigation Bar changes it from automatic to custom mode, the UI should clearly indicate that new home subdocuments will no longer be added automatically.

Impact:

Users cannot see or manage existing navigation items from the Navigation Options menu. It is also unclear why new home subdocuments stop appearing automatically after the Navigation Bar has been edited.

Actual behavior:

The Navigation Options menu only shows “Add Navigation Item.” Existing navigation items are not displayed, and there is no clear indication that the Navigation Bar is now manually managed.

Screenshot:

The attached screenshot shows the Navigation Options menu open with only “Add Navigation Item” visible, while the current navigation items are not displayed.

The current navigation items should be listed in the Navigation Options menu for viewing or editing.

Only the “Add Navigation Item” option is shown. The existing navigation items are missing from the menu.
