Roadmap
Problem
Users are experiencing immense pain with the Onboarding Process and generally struggle to understand the difference between an account and a site.
Users view an account profile and an account site as two separate entities.
Many users have the goal of commenting or creating content on someone else's content, which can be confusing when they suddenly get a website, and even more confusing when the website is the same as their account.
Solution
As a user, I want to edit my account and its profile
I like this solution of consolidating the profile and account. It works for desktop and web. The profile/account would be edited in the profile section.
Comment on Linear
As a new user I want to create an account and a Site
As we move forward with consolidating account and profile editing, we also need to rethink the onboarding flow. New users should be able to create a profile (icon and name) plus an additional clear path to building their first site, which is essential for publishing or collaborating in Seed.
As a user with an account I want to create a Site
We should define how and when a user creates a site if they start with only a profile. Is site creation prompted during onboarding? Do we offer a default site, or guide them with a clear CTA once the profile is set up?
Clarifying this path will help avoid confusion between "profile" and "site" and ensure users don’t get stuck after account setup. This is especially important for first-time users who may not yet understand the relationship between identity, profile, and site.
