Peer id
A libp2p peer id in multibase string form, naming a device connection and never an account.

Part of Stem. This page defines the peer id string used in policies, disclosures and transfers.

A peer id names a device's network identity; it is bound to an account only by an Authenticate call on a live connection.

Rules

A string of at least one character: the libp2p peer id as the network prints it. The device key behind it never signs content. A peer may authenticate as several accounts on one connection, and the binding ends with the connection. Policies name peers to exchange a scope with; the disclosure and transfer ledgers record which peer served or sent a blob. Nothing in permanent data references a peer id except the site attribute of a space root.

Today (HM24)

The same identity, described in Network and Identity.
